The Indian Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (ICAI) has postponed all Chartered Accountants (CA) examinations that were scheduled to take place in Kathmandu this week. This decision was taken by the ICAI to ensure safety of all students. However, ICAI has also clarified that the exams have been postponed only for the students who were registered to appear for this financial exam in Nepal’s Kathmandu examination centres. The exams will be conducted as scheduled at all other examination centres across India and other parts of the world. “No. 13-CA (EXAM)/SEPTEMBER/2025/IV: In continuation of the Institute’s Important Announcement No. 13-CA(EXAM)/SEPTEMBER/2025 dated 30th May 2025, read with Announcement No. 13-CA (EXAM)/SEPTEMBER/2025/II dated 2nd September 2025 and Announcement No. 13-CA (EXAM)/SEPTEMBER/2025/III dated 5th September 2025 , it is announced for general information that in view of the widespread protests in Nepal , the Chartered Accountants Examinations scheduled to be held on 9th and 10th September 2025 stand postponed in Kathmandu (Nepal) only,” the official notification stated. Once released, the revised examination date for ICAI CA exams in Kathmandu will be updated at the official ICAI website, i.e. icai.org. The student-driven “Gen Z” protests in Nepal, initially erupted over the government’s social media ban, but have since evolved into a broader movement. The protests are now against widespread public frustration with Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli’s administration and the political elite, with citizens voicing strong concerns about corruption and indifference toward everyday people. A little before this, ICAI had also postponed CA Final, Intermediate exams 2025 in Amritsar, Bathinda, Jalandhar, Ludhiana, Mandi Gobindgarh, Pathankot, Patiala and Jammu City due to continous rains and adverse weather conditions in these regions.
