NECOP neutralised ‘Kamikaze’ drone attacks thru SDJG

KARACHI: The National Electronics Complex of Pakistan (NECOP) has effectively neutralised ‘Kamikaze’ drone attacks on Pakistan’s western borders with its indigenously developed ‘Safrah Drone Jamming Gun’, marking a significant achievement in the country’s defense technology capabilities. Earlier this year, militants launched a series of Kamikaze drone attacks, posing a serious threat to personnel stationed along the volatile Western border regions. However, the deployment of Safrah Drone Jamming Guns (SDJG) successfully disrupted these attacks, preventing potential casualties and damage, said NECOP official Dr Asif Mughal. He was speaking at Pakistan International Maritime Expo & Conference (PIMEC) 2025, held at Karachi Expo from November 3 to 6. Following the successful deployment of SDJG that effectively neutralised Kamikaze drone attacks, the weapon has now attracted international attention, with export orders now coming in from African countries, he said, adding that the exports to African nations are expected to commence in the coming months. During PIMEC, the NECOP has given SDJG’s live demo to Governor Sindh Kamran Khan Tessori. The Safrah Gun is designed to jam drones operating within a 1,500-meter range, targeting frequencies between 1,560 MHz and 5,875 MHz. This broad frequency spectrum allows the device to neutralise various types of commercial and modified drones commonly used in hostile operations. The system demonstrates impressive operational capacity, capable of executing 70 to 80 jamming operations within a 40-minute timeframe, providing sustained protection during extended security operations. The successful deployment of this Pakistani-made technology underscores the country’s growing capabilities in electronic warfare and counter-drone systems, addressing emerging security challenges while opening new avenues for defense exports.
