NDE trains 253 Ekiti youths in entrepreneurial skills

In a bid to tackle youth unemployment and promote economic sustainability in Ekiti State, the National Directorate of Employment (NDE) has trained no fewer than 253 youths in the state on entrepreneurship and business management skills. The one-week programme, tagged, ‘ Entrepreneurship Development Training (EDT) was held for youths in Irepodun/Ifelodun Local Government Area of the state. The sessions were facilitated by seasoned Small Business Development experts who provided hands-on guidance to help trainees translate their business ideas into sustainable ventures. Speaking while declaring open the exercise, the Director General of NDE, Silas Ali Agara noted was put together to equip the youths with relevant skills in entrepreneurship and business management for self-reliance and economic growth. Represented by the NDE State Coordinator, Orelusi Michael Omoniyi, the DG explained that the training exposed the beneficiaries to key modules such as business planning, financial management, opportunity identification, and enterprise sustainability. He reaffirmed NDE’s commitment to reducing unemployment and fostering wealth creation through entrepreneurship. The NDE boss urged participants to apply the knowledge acquired to start and grow their own businesses, stressing that youth entrepreneurship is a powerful tool for driving inclusive economic growth in Ekiti and the nation at large. Representatives of Femiboyede Consulting Limited, Chief Femi Boyede lauded the participants’ commitment and enthusiasm throughout the training. He emphasized that sustained learning, discipline, and innovation remain vital to long-term business success. Some of the beneficiaries who spoke after the training commended NDE and the facilitators for the opportunity, adding that the training has not only broadened their entrepreneurial mindset but also positioned them to become job creators rather than job seekers. They further appealed to the agency to consider providing them with the tools and equipment to start their own businesses.
