The National Chairman of the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC), Johnson Asiedu Nketiah, has called on party members to remain patient and united as President John Dramani Mahama’s administration gradually takes shape and opens up more opportunities for appointments.
In a meeting with branch and constituency executives, ward coordinators, former party officials, cadres, and Assembly members in the Asuogyaman Constituency, Asiedu Nketiah reassured supporters that their patience would soon pay off.
His visit to the region was part of a three-day “Thank You Tour” celebrating the NDC’s election victory.
Responding to concerns raised by members who have not yet been appointed to government positions, the NDC Chairman urged understanding, emphasising that the party’s leadership is actively working to ensure that all dedicated members have a chance to serve.
Asiedu Nketiah also cautioned against internal divisions, pointing to the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP) as a cautionary tale.
“If we do what we want with the positions we have gotten, our party will be divided like the NPP’s. But I know that will never happen,” he said.
He further commented on the current state of the NPP, saying, “what NPP is now doing is a contest to hell. The flagbearer aspirants are criticising each other and are enumerating the sins and faults of each other.”
Asiedu Nketiah stressed the importance of unity and discipline within the NDC, underlining that maintaining solidarity is key to ensuring the party remains strong and focused, unlike the disarray currently plaguing the NPP.
