NCT’s Doyoung And Jungwoo To Begin Military Service In December; Details Revealed

The winter lineup for NCT will look a little different this year. SM Entertainment officially announced that Doyoung and Jungwoo will begin their mandatory military service in December, temporarily stepping away from group activities. Doyoung To Serve As Active-Duty Soldier According to a statement released on October 30, 2025, Doyoung will enlist on December 8 as an active-duty soldier in the Republic of Korea Army. Known for his soulful vocals and calm demeanor, Doyoung has been one of NCT’s most consistent performers across sub-units. His upcoming service marks another milestone in his journey as he fulfills his civic duty. Jungwoo Joins The Military Band Meanwhile, Jungwoo has been accepted into the military band after clearing a competitive audition process. The idol, celebrated for his stage charisma and versatility, will also enlist on December 8, though the two members will train and serve at different locations. SM Entertainment’s statement read, “There will be no official events or fan gatherings on the day of enlistment. As many soldiers and families will be present, we kindly ask fans to refrain from visiting the sites for safety reasons. Please continue to support Doyoung and Jungwoo so they can complete their service faithfully and return in good health.” Group Dynamics And Fan Reactions If all goes as planned, Doyoung and Jungwoo will be discharged on June 7, 2027. Their enlistment follows that of Taeyong, who began his naval service in April 2024, and Jaehyun, who joined the military band in November 2024. With Haechan as the only remaining Korean member of NCT 127 yet to enlist, the group’s domestic lineup will be on a brief hiatus from full-unit activities. Fans have expressed a mix of pride and sadness—celebrating the duo’s commitment to their national duties while already counting down the days to their return. Despite the temporary separation, NCT’s multiple sub-units and solo ventures are expected to keep their global presence strong throughout the enlistment period.
