NCERT has rolled out a free online Business Studies for course for Class 12 students designed to develop conceptual clarity on functioning of businesses and business operations in varied environments. When will the course begin? According to NCERT the 24-week course which is being offered via its SWAYAM portal began on September 22 2025 and will conclude on March 6 2026. Students who register for the course will be access structured content on the portal which aligns with NCERTs Class 12 curriculum. A online examination will be conducted in the last week of the course and is tentatively scheduled to be held on March 3 2026 subject to seat availability. What curriculum is being offered? The curriculum for the online Business Studies course has been designed to cover eight broadly-related themes including business environment nature and significance of management planning organising staffing directing and controlling and principles of management. The course will deliver 30 modules four components-documents video lessons web links and self-assessment resources NCERT said adding that the students will also receive support via discussion forums. In a notification NCERT said the core course is being offered in English and is designed for students who are interested in business and management concepts as well as those preparing for Class 12 board examinations. How to enroll? According to NCERT interested students can enroll in the course after registering on the SWAYAM portal and will be awarded a certificate after final assessment at the end of the course. Notably NCERT the national coordinator for school-level MOOCs on SWAYAM for Classes 9-12 offers these online course without any charges to promote access to quality learning. These online course developed by subject experts are designed to boost subject-specific knowledge and conceptual clarity of students.
