Sommet 78-80 City Oilers

City Oilers have successfully outmuscled Sommet Spartans to level the series 1-1 in the National Basketball League semifinal encounter.

City Oilers secured a hard-fought 80-78 victory against Sommet in the NBL Playoff encounter at Lugogo Indoor Arena on Friday.

The record defending champions came out strong after falling in game one 74-86, proving they still have the fighting spirit within them.

Sommet opened a narrow four-point (22-18) lead at the end of the opening quarter as a loud crowd backed them up.

City Oilers brought up a good fight in the second quarter, but trailed by three points (42-39) going into the halftime break.

Coming from the locker rooms, Sommet kept the foot on the gas pedal as they kept a five-point (59-54) lead at the end of the third quarter.

However, the tables turned in the final quarter as the Oilers bagged a sweet two-point victory on the day.

Jordan Bowie Chad (25 points), Kurt Wegscheider (18 points) and Titus Lual (12 points led the Oilers in the double digits.

On the other hand, Kasereka Tembo (23 points), Nyebo Fataki (13 points) and John Focus Teko (11 points) scored for Sommet in double digits.
