NBA Announces Victor Wembanyama Made History in Stunning Spurs Start

Through the first three games of the NBA season, emerging superstar Victor Wembanyama put on a masterclass in terms of statistical greatness. The San Antonio Spurs‘ former No. 1 pick has shown his ability to score from anywhere, dunk with ease, and swat away opponents’ shots far into the arena’s seats. Behind Wemby’s strong contributions, the Spurs also won their first three games, defeating the Brooklyn Nets, Dallas Mavericks, and New Orleans Pelicans. More formidable opponents will arrive, but Wemby seems to be becoming a monster in the league. While only the Mavs were considered a potential playoff team in preseason discussions, Wemby outperformed this year’s No. 1 pick, Cooper Flagg, and previous No. 1 pick, Zion Williamson, in those games, showcasing his unique set of skills on the court. Several of the shots he swatted away came from Zion. In the Spurs’ win over Flagg’s Mavs, Wemby filled his stat line with 40 points, 15 boards, three blocks, an assist, and a steal. The Spurs star’s stat line against Brooklyn included 31 points, 14 boards, six blocks, and three steals. His highlights appeared in an NBA video where they referred to it as, “Another otherworldly game from Wemby.” While Wemby’s size gives him a vast advantage, he’s also doing things that many players at his size don’t. That includes putting moves on opponents for jump shots, hitting far-out threes, and even pulling off four-point plays. However, that Mavs team is still missing star point guard Kyrie Irving. Meanwhile, the Spurs are young and hungry, behind Wemby along with several other star draft picks, including former UConn standout Stephon Castle, who won NBA Rookie of the Year last season. The Spurs look to secure their fourth win on Monday when they host the Toronto Raptors, and Wemby will most likely continue to play a huge part in those victories. While it’s still early in the season, the Frenchman’s performances and highlights in his first three games are eye-opening for fans and the rest of the league. The scary aspect is that he’s only 21, so it looks like he’s just getting started.
