The Mounts of Mayhem drop in Minecraft introduces the nautilus, a much-awaited mob that lets players explore underwater biomes with ease. The mob has an array of features and functions, and has an undead variant known as the zombie nautilus. So, it comes as no surprise that gamers are wondering how these two variants are different from each other. Here's how the nautilus and the zombie nautilus are different from each other.Minecraft Nautilus vs Zombie Nautilus: Major features that set them apartBoth mobs are mostly similar but have a few factors that set them apart (Image via Sportskeeda Gaming || Mojang Studios)The Minecraft Mounts of Mayhem drop introduces the nautilus and its undead variant, the zombie nautilus. This nifty mob is one of the biggest updates in terms of mobility since it allows players to explore underwater without worrying about air, thanks to the Breath of the Nautilus enchantment. While both variants share the same core functions, they have some stark differences in terms of behaviour. While the nautilus is a neutral mob by default, the zombie nautilus is ridden by a drowned wielding a trident. This makes it hostile by default, unless you dismount the drowned and eliminate it. Once dismounted, it becomes neutral like its regular counterpart and can then be tamed. The zombie nautilus is hostile when ridden by the drowned (Image via Sportskeeda Gaming || Mojang Studios)Apart from their hostility, another major difference between the two mobs is in terms of their behavior. While both mobs survive underwater, their behavior is significantly different when they are beached. If the nautilus is stranded above water, it dies of suffocation. On the other hand, the zombie nautilus dies due to exposure to sunlight, just like the other undead mobs. However, you can prevent the mob from burning in sunlight if you equip the nautilus armor on it. The armor protects the undead mob from burning, similar to the zombie horse. While you can breed a nautilus in Minecraft, the zombie variant cannot be bred (Image via Sportskeeda Gaming || Mojang Studios)Another significant difference between the mobs is in terms of their breeding behavior. While you can breed two nautilus mobs in Minecraft by feeding them pufferfish or interacting with buckets of fish, the zombie nautilus cannot be bred. The only way to obtain zombie nautilus is by chancing upon it underwater.Apart from these, the zombie nautilus also depicts some behaviors exclusive to undead mobs. It is damaged by the status effect Instant Health and healed by the status effect Instant Damage, the opposite of its regular variant. The mob is also unaffected by the Regeneration and Poison status effects. However, the Smite enchantment deals damage even when tamed since it is technically undead. Also read: Fans point out Spear's potential origin from A Minecraft MovieCheck out our other Minecraft articles:How to get and use the Reese's Sodium Options modCool ways to use shelvesHow to get boss mob spawn eggsHow to sort items using a copper golem4 best mods to bring mobs to lifeAll the Minecraft fishing enchantments explained
