Nassau Holoworld, a holographic theater experience in Downtown Nassau, is moving to The Mall at Marathon by the end of November, and will have a second location in the Nassau Cruise Port (NCP) by the end of December. Kevin Burrows, principal of Nassau World Production, the company behind Nassau Holoworld, told Guardian Business recently that the move from the main downtown location to The Mall at Marathon was due to the lack of customers in Downtown Nassau. “We’re actually moving our downtown location into The Mall at Marathon. We’re going to reopen a mall location just to make it easier for parking and for the locals to actually be able to come out, because our Bay Street location was difficult to access. And then we’re going to look to put a second one inside the Nassau Cruise Port itself, because we want to catch the tourists as they come out the boat directly.” Burrows continued: “We’ve exited that downtown lease, and we’ve closed the downtown location, so we’ll have the mall location ready for the end of November, and the NCP location by the end of December. We had to pivot a bit. I mean, everyone who has come out, they love it, so the proof of concept is definitely there.” The $750,000 Nassau Holoworld attraction was set to transform Downtown Bay Street, providing an attraction that both locals and tourists can enjoy. Burrows said while the reception to the attraction has been positive, operating on the main Bay Street was a “difficult proposition”, considering that there is limited parking, and tourists aren’t being whisked east of Bank Lane as in year’s past. “We were hoping to be a part of the revitalization of that part of Downtown Nassau, but in reality our finances trumped our altruistic vision for a better Bay Street. We’re opening the mall location at the end of November. We just got access to the space on November 1. So, we’ll be putting signage, we’ll do some interior renovations and so forth. With our partners in Chicago, we’re pushing for Thanksgiving, but it might be a couple of days after Thanksgiving.” Burrows’ Nassau World Production has partnered with Chicago-based Verse Immersive and uses Microsoft HoloLens mixed reality headsets to provide an immersive augmented reality experience, featuring various experiences and environments, such as mythical creatures and outer space.
