Nevertheless with open gun battles in the streets of Rio, the Comando Vermelho narco terrorists might see COP30 as a golden opportunity to grab some high value hostages to leverage Rio de Janeiro authorities into backing down, or to force the release of arrested gang leaders. Comando Vermelho have a long track record of hijacking and kidnapping for ransom, in addition to being significant regional narco traffickers.
