Nainar Nagenthran to begin Statewide tour from October

BJP Tamil Nadu president Nainar Nagenthran on Tuesday said he would embark on a Statewide tour starting October. A committee had been formed by the party to draw up the tour plan, which would be released in a few days.

The core committee meeting of the party’s Tamil Nadu unit was held at Akkarai on the outskirts of Chennai, in which senior leaders of the party including B.L. Santhosh, the party’s national general secretary (organisation), and former State unit presidents Pon. Radhakrishnan, Tamilisai Soundararajan, and K. Annamalai participated.

Speaking to reporters after the meeting, Mr. Nagenthran said the party leaders held day-long deliberations on preparing for the Assembly elections in the State next year and on strengthening the party’s organisational structure.

Asked whether there had been any deliberations on bringing back T.T.V. Dhinakaran-led Amma Makkal Munnetra Kazhagam and former Chief Minister O. Panneerselvam, both of whom had exited the National Democratic Alliance recently, Mr. Nagenthran said there was no discussion on alliances.

He added his party would invite AIADMK general secretary Edappadi K. Palaniswami to join the launch of his tour and the second-rung leaders of the Dravidian party to participate at various locations.

BJP spokesperson Narayanan Thirupathy said the meeting focused on taking to the people various schemes implemented by the BJP government at the Centre, as well as law and order and other issues concerning the DMK government, and on how to work closely with alliance partners.
