Nadiadwala Grandson Entertainment Files Police Complaint Over Extortion Threats

Nadiadwala Grandson Entertainment (NGE) has filed a formal complaint against individuals accused of pressuring the production house with extortion demands and smear tactics targeting its films, filmmakers, and actors. The production banner, headed by Sajid Nadiadwala, issued a statement on Monday confirming that it had obtained strong proof of the misconduct. According to the company, evidence such as call recordings revealed attempts to solicit money in return for withholding negative online content.
Production house threaten legal action
NGE clarified that the campaign was not an exercise of fair criticism but a deliberate attempt to threaten and damage reputations. The company’s legal counsel, Ravi Suryawanshi of Bar and Brief Attorneys, said NGE has submitted call recordings and other documents to investigative agencies, seeking action against what it calls extortion attempts targeting films, directors, and actors.
“We recently came across evidence — including call recordings — indicating that a few individuals were demanding money and threatening to malign the reputation of our films, directors, and lead actors if their demands were not met. We believe such behaviour warrants investigation by the appropriate authorities,” the statement read.

The company has now escalated the issue to law enforcement authorities, seeking a formal probe into the alleged misconduct. Stressing that the move is directed solely at those engaging in coercive practices, NGE claimed that its step should not be misconstrued as an attack on authentic critics or independent commentators within the film industry.
“We wish to emphasise that these actions are directed solely at those engaging in such malicious practices and not at any genuine, independent reviewers or YouTubers. We value honest work and wholeheartedly welcome their contributions to the healthy progress of the film industry.”
NGE also reiterated their support for free speech and open dialogue: “We are firm supporters of the freedom of speech and expression as enshrined in the Constitution of India. We have never objected — and will never object — to fair criticism or reviews of our films. On the contrary, we believe that constructive criticism is essential for helping filmmakers grow and for fostering the healthy development of the industry.”
IFTPC echoes similar sentiments
Earlier this month, the Indian Film and Television Producers Council (IFTPC) raised concerns over similar activities, alleging that certain influencers were pressuring producers through threats of negative reviews and orchestrated smear campaigns aimed at harming a film’s box office performance. The council stated that it is seeking guidance from legal experts to consider possible civil and criminal actions.
“After having observed over last few years, an alarming trend where certain social media influencers are engaging in predatory practices by threatening to release malicious and disparaging reviews or reaction videos of films, series, and other audiovisual content, coupled with demands for payment from producers…Therefore, the IFTPC has decided to seek opinions from top-tier legal counsels, to explore all available legal remedies under both civil and criminal laws to bring a swift and decisive end to these extortionate practices,” the producer’s forum had said in a press release on 1 September.
Nadiadwala’s upcoming and latest projects
In 2025, Nadiadwala Grandson Entertainment has been keeping audiences entertained with a diverse slate of films spanning multiple genres. Currently in theaters is Baaghi 4, an action-packed thriller directed by A. Harsha, featuring Tiger Shroff, Sanjay Dutt, Sonam Bajwa, and Harnaaz Sandhu.
The production house also brought back its popular comedy series with Housefull 5, directed by Tarun Mansukhani, starring Akshay Kumar, Abhishek Bachchan, and Riteish Deshmukh. Adding to their action repertoire, they produced Salman Khan’s Sikandar, an intense drama directed by A.R. Murugadoss and co-starring Rashmika Mandanna.
Next up on their slate is O’Romeo, an action-drama helmed by Vishal Bhardwaj. The film stars Shahid Kapoor, Triptii Dimri, and Nana Patekar, and is slated for a Valentine’s Day release next year.
