A Suffolk County, Long Island, man has scored a life-changing win after claiming a top prize in the New York Lottery’s Bonus Bucks scratch-off game, Lottery officials announced. Kurt Kelleher of Shirley claimed the $3 million prize and chose to receive his winnings in 20 annual payments of $97,653 each, after required withholdings. The winning ticket was purchased at King Kullen, located at 405 William Floyd Parkway in Shirley. As of this writing, two $3 million top prizes remain in the Bonus Bucks scratch-off game. Valid lower-tier prizes may be claimed until the game’s expiration date. Players can check the status of any New York Lottery scratch-off game by downloading the Game Report at nylottery.ny.gov. New York Lottery scratch-off games generated $4.34 billion in total sales during fiscal year 2024–2025. School districts in Suffolk County received $314.38 million in Lottery Aid to Education funds during the same period.
