N.Y.-based Unique Coffee Roasters plans 1st N.J. location

A New York-based coffee company plans to open its first location in New Jersey with the recent purchase of a property in Monmouth County. Unique Coffee Roasters, based in Staten Island, has purchased a 9,712-square-foot building at 719-721 Route 35 in Middletown. The property features ground-level access and large windows that “fill the interior with natural light,” the company says. The $1.6 million deal was brokered by Sheldon Gross Realty Executive Vice President Jonathan Glick and Corporate Sales Representative Joshua Glussky, while Legacy Commercial Realty served as the listing agent. “From the steady flow of motorists along Route 35 to its hard-to-miss highway frontage, this is an exceptional location,” said Glussky. “I can’t imagine a property checking off more boxes.” According to Joseph Ferrara, president of Unique Coffee Roasters, the space will be used as a roastery and warehouse where coffee will be sold by the bag. There are also plans to include a tasting room, allowing customers to learn about the company’s coffee-making process and sample the products. The business was started “in a one-car garage with a simple goal in mind: Deliver to New Yorkers a different cup of coffee, something Unique,” according to the Unique Coffee Roaster website. “Our core values are taste, quality, and consistency. Our advanced roasting techniques allow us to deliver those values in each bag of coffee. We are able to capture the subtle nuances in every bean, paying close attention to the art form that is coffee roasting. Our philosophy is that the best coffee in the world is the one that you like.” Unique Coffee Roasters offers a collection of single-origin coffees sourced from around the world. The coffees originate from Costa Rica, Sumatra, Colombia, Honduras, Kenya, Ethiopia, Guatemala, Nicaragua and Brazil. All of the coffees are sold in 16-ounce bags. In addition, the company sells flavored coffees such as Belgian chocolate and apple cider donut. Loose leaf tea and gourmet hot chocolate are also on the menu. Unique Coffee Roasters also has aspirations to expand further in New Jersey, with a potential future location in Colts Neck.
