N.Y. airports: How JFK, Newark, LaGuardia ranked in 2025 satisfaction study

Four airports in the New York area, including three near New York City, rank among the top in both the U.S. and Canada, according to the J.D. Power 2025 North America Airport Satisfaction Study. Based on surveys from around 30,400 U.S. and Canadian travelers, the study ranked airports of different sizes based on customer satisfaction in a number of areas, such as ease of travel, terminal facilities, and food and beverage options. The study broke down results by airport size, and based on the surveys assigned scores on a 1,000 point scale. In the category of “mega-airports,” which see 33 million or more passengers each year, John F. Kennedy International Airport ranked sixth with a score of 618. Not far behind, Newark Liberty International Airport just barely made the list of top mega-airports with a score of 565 out of 1000. For large airports, which the study defines as serving 10 million to 32.9 million passengers each year, LaGuardia Airport came in at 18 out of 27 with a score of 637. Finally, New York state was also represented well in the medium airport category, which serves 4.5 to 9.9 million passengers each year. Buffalo Niagara International Airport came in third in this category, which also represented the highest ranking for an airport in New York. The top five mega-airports, according to the J.D. Power study, are: Minneapolis-St.Paul International in Minnesota (1); Detroit Metropolitan Wayne County in Michigan (2); Phoenix Sky Harbor International in Arizona (3); Dallas/Fort Worth International in Texas (4); and Harry Reid International in Nevada (5). The top-ranked large airports are John Wayne Airport in California (1); Tampa International Airport in Florida (2); Dallas Love Field in Texas (3); Kansas City International in Missouri (4); and Raleigh-Durham International in North Carolina (5).
