The Mysuru division of South Western Railway launched a cleanliness drive — ‘Swachhata Hi Seva’ — which is scheduled to run till October 2.
The drive began at the Mysuru Railway Station with a pledge administered by Divisional Railway Manager Mudit Mittal. Senior officials, including Additional Divisional Railway Manager Shammas Hameed, and other staff took part in the ‘Shramadaan’ or voluntary cleaning initiative at several stations and railway premises to mark the occasion.
The division has partnered with NGOs from different districts, including Bramha Samaja Mysuru, Rotary Club & Inner Peace (Arsikere), Jayaprakash Narayana Grameena Abhirudhi Seva Samiti (Hassan), Chaitanya Rural Development (Shivamogga), Sankalpa Seva Foundation (Davangere), and Rotary Club (Haveri).
Authorities said that these groups will hold skits, rallies, and awareness drives alongside cleaning activities and spread the message of keeping trains and railway premises clean.
The campaign is aimed at improving cleanliness at railway stations and spreading awareness among passengers and the public, said the authorities.
