    Nemo, a friendly and much-loved female dog who lives around Pil Court building at Churchgate, recently had a misadventure when she jumped into a local train at Churchgate station to escape the loud noise of bursting crackers. She was eventually found 17 days later in Kandivali (west), after the train had carried her to the city’s suburbs, reported The Times of India.Worried dog lovers from Pil Court launched an extensive search for Nemo through online networks. Theatre personality and film actor Anahita Uberoi told TOI, “Nemo is a popular dog at Pil Court, so we were all very sad to know that she had run away from here on the last day of Ganpati immersions (Sep 6) because of the continuous bursting of loud crackers. Many people tried to search for her all over south Mumbai, but we couldn’t find her.”While no one had imagined that Nemo could have traveled ticketless on a local train to Kandivali, residents kept hoping for her return. “Various Churchgate residents such as Rashmi Kharbanda, Pratima Chavan, Behroze Mistry, Rhea Bharucha, my husband Samir Uberoi, his driver Salim Shaikh, among others, had started sending online messages to find Nemo. We are really impressed by the quick networks of dog feeders groups who immediately circulated the Missing Dog posters,” Uberoi said.Animal activists, including Abodh Aras of Welfare of Stray Dogs (WSD), also joined the search. The breakthrough came after 10 days when a Kandivali-based dog feeder, Jenny, informed Churchgate locals about a confused and nervous dog resembling Nemo seen in her area. “This tip-off helped us focus our search to Kandivli. A railway canteen boy and another local hawker at Kandivli also interacted with our search parties, telling them where all Nemo was sighted in the last few days. The canteen boy also gave her food and water, which was very important in order to keep Nemo in that region until she was rescued,” Uberoi told TOI.The Shapoorji Pallonji group also pitched in with contacts in Kandivali. Finally, on Day 17, a canteen boy informed locals that Nemo was with him. “We were all so happy to see Nemo again.
