Mum of missing Lewis Cuthbert makes emotional plea 12 weeks after disappearance

The mum a missing Lanarkshire man who was last seen on August 4 has made a desperate appeal in the search for her "best friend". Lewis Cuthbert, 25, was last seen by his family at his South Lanarkshire home on Monday, August 4. He left home at 4pm and was thought to be on his way to Glasgow city centre to meet and busk with friends. He was last seen in the Lesmahagow Road area of Strathaven, but it is unknown how or whether he arrived in Glasgow, as a storm was expected to hit the area that day, disrupting bus services. Lewis has not been seen since. Lewis' disappearance is considered high-risk and is completely out of character. Police Scotland and his family have exhausted all leads on his whereabouts, and are now hoping to refresh the public's memory back to August 4, in the hope of finding new lines of enquiry. At the time of his disappearance, Lewis was described as white British, 5ft 10in, with a slim build, short brown hair and brown eyes. He was last seen wearing a brown cord jacket with a white sheepskin collar, dark blue jeans with the hems turned up, and brown ankle boots. He was also last seen carrying a backpack with a microphone inside. Lewis’ heartbroken mum, Rosemary, said: "Lewis has things he wants to do [in the future]: he’s very much talented and has a band, he wanted to write a book. He’s kind and caring; he works for a mental health charity due his personal connection with the cause. “Lewis is outgoing, very trusting. His brother, dad, grandparents, his extended family and all his friends are worried sick. We really want him back and think about him every day. He is my best friend.” Anyone with information can visit Lewis’ appeal on the Missing People website here. From there, anyone can report a sighting, download his missing appeal as a poster, and share it as widely as possible via Facebook, Twitter, and in public spaces. Missing people’s publicity officer, Ndella Senghore, said: “If anyone has any information about Lewis’ disappearance, they can contact Missing People’s helpline. “Lewis, if you are reading this, please get in touch. You can call us on 116 000. Our service is non-judgemental, confidential, and free. We just want to provide you with the support you need and help you to be safe. “Our helpline is here to support people who are missing, thinking of going missing, and for loved ones who are left behind. The helpline is free and confidential and is operated by trained staff and volunteers. “Sightings and information about any missing person can also be given anonymously through the Missing People website at https://www.missingpeople.org.uk/sightings-and-giving-information-2.” Join Glasgow Live's WhatsApp community here and get the latest news sent straight to your messages.
