A mum has revealed the “real” reason she purchased a baby monitor and it’s left many people in agreement while others are in fits of laughter. Baby monitors are crucial devices for parents, enabling them to monitor their child when they’re in a separate room . They also permit parents to observe their child throughout the night, with numerous devices featuring high definition cameras to deliver live video feeds, alongside audio. Some even track health data such as heart rate and movement. One mum sparked debate after joking about the “real” motive behind installing a baby monitor in her children’s bedroom. Alice Rose Bennett has two daughters, both under two years old, with her partner, and frequently shares her motherhood journey on social media . In a recent clip uploaded to TikTok , her partner can be seen laying on one of their daughter’s beds while browsing on his phone. It appears as though he might be using Snapchat. Alice observed him through the baby monitor and filmed the screen on her mobile phone. She then magnified the image to get a better view of his phone. Across the footage, she included text stating: “The real reason I got a baby monitor”. The clip evidently resonated with fellow social media users, accumulating over 4.8 million views, more than 161K likes, thousands of saves and hundreds of comments. TikTok users were eager to express their opinions. One person commented: “I don’t have a baby but I will be buying one!!” Another asked: “Is that snapchat? It should be illegal to have snapchat past 21”. A third said: “No reason why grown adults have Snapchat. I’d be skeptical of every single one.” Someone else commented: “Petition to buy this girl a 4k baby monitor because I’m nosy”. Another confessed: “Not me zooming in to try and read the messages”. Others were keen to share similar experiences of their own. One TikTok user admitted: “Got his passcode on my Ring door bell when he was sitting outside underneath it”. Another revealed: “I found out my ex husband was cheating from the Ring cameras. Money well spent if you ask me”. And another said: “Girllllll…. I caught my ex [husband’s] affair via the monitor in our living room… he was talking to her on the phone!!” But someone else commented: “I know this is probably a joke but I’d rather be single than resort to this type of stuff again [upside down smile emoji] my heart sank for you girl.” Another asked: “What’s the update? Do we like him or hate him?” In a follow-up comment, Alice confirmed her partner wasn’t doing anything dodgy or suspicious – he was messaging his lads’ group chat.
