Mum, 36, left horrified after Temu brush ripped three-year-old's hair from scalp

A mum has been left horrified after her three-year-old daughter's hair was ripper from her scalp in a traumatising ordeal, after purchasing a product online. Amy, 36, said she bought the electric cleaning brush from Temu for £4 in a bid to "make life easier" with housework, however, in a distressing turn of events, she said it ended up being responsible for tearing her daughter's hair out. The mother shared how the product got caught in her daughter's hair when she took it out of the box. Amy told the BBC that when the brush arrived, her little girl picked it up and it just came on, the brush flew off.. and just sucked her hair in." "Then I see the hair attached to it and my husband just lifted her hair up and there was a massive bald patch. I was distraught. "She was upset. it wasn't until later on and the pain really hit her. She said 'my head hurt, my head hurt'." The mum said a whole month later her daughter's hair had still not grown back, and added: "I don't want any other child to go through what she's been through." At the time of the incident, Amy said she was offered a "£1,500 PayPal solution" from the site, but she has said she would not accept it. A spokesperson for Temu told the publication: "We are deeply concerned to hear about this incident and wish the child a full and speedy recovery." They added: "The safety and wellbeing of our customers are always our top priority, and our customer service team is in contact with the family to offer assistance." The brand continued: "The product in question was removed from our platform in August, and we have since taken down similar products as a precautionary measure. "Temu operates as a third-party marketplace connecting independent sellers with consumers. A representative for trading standards in the UK said Temu's UK body "voluntarily withdrew" the item to conduct a review of the appliance in line with the legal requirements, especially when looking at warnings and instructions. Norfolk Trading Standards have also since listed the product on the Product Safety Database.
