By Juliet Aguiar DUGBARTEY, Takoradi MTN Ghana says it remains committed to its Ambition 2025 strategy, which aims to transform the company from a traditional telecommunications provider into a leading digital and platform player. Speaking at the Media and Stakeholders engagement in Takoradi, Adwoa Wiafe, Chief Corporate and Sustainability Officer at MTN explained that Ambition 2025, launched in 2021, was designed to enable MTN respond effectively to changing industry dynamics while driving sustainable growth and innovation. “Under the initiative, MTN is focusing on five key areas; fintech, big data and intelligence, enterprise solutions, network-as-a-service, and API. According to management, API form a major part of the company’s push to simplify customer experiences, enabling digital transactions such as paying ECG bills or other services seamlessly through mobile connectivity”. “Ambition 2025 was framed as a five-year strategy. This is our fifth year, and going forward, we are fine-tuning the strategy to keep responding to industry changes, stakeholder expectations, and the sustainability needs of our business,” she noted. On key focus areas Madam Wiafe added that MTN has identified three main focus areas that will anchor its growth agenda beyond 2025. These he mentioned are; connectivity, fintech and digital platforms. On Connectivity she said the company is expanding its network and improving service quality. Between 2021 and 2025, MTN pledged to invest $1 billion in its network infrastructure, a commitment that has been met. This year alone, she said over $300 million has been invested to enhance coverage and service reliability across the country. Also, on Fintech, she explained that MTN is deepening its mobile money (MoMo) services, broadening access to financial services, and leveraging technology to promote inclusion and efficiency in digital payments. Again, on Digital Platforms, Madam Wiafe said the telecom giant is integrating more services into its MTN and MoMo apps to provide customers with convenient access to products and services from the comfort of their homes. On Sustainability and ESG Commitment she pointed out that as part of Ambition 2025, MTN has placed strong emphasis on Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) principles. The company she stated has set a target to achieve net zero carbon emissions by 2040 and continues to roll out initiatives aimed at reducing its carbon footprint, supporting communities, and fostering inclusive digital growth. “Our belief is that everyone deserves the benefits of a modern connected life. That’s why we are working to extend connectivity to all while contributing meaningfully to Ghana’s development through our taxes, network investments, and digitalization programmes,” she emphasized. On future connectivity plans, particularly the rollout of 5G services, she said MTN said it is working closely with the Government of Ghana to move down the spectrum and accelerate national broadband access. The company according to her remains focused on building partnerships and infrastructure that support the country’s digital transformation agenda. Post Views: 4
