M&S shopper flaunts £20 food haul but Brits are stunned by how much he bags

A man recently left Brits gobsmacked after he visited Marks & Spencer (M&S) for a last-minute weekly shop and revealed what he managed to purchase for just over £20.00, and it comes after the company announced the closure of some of its cafes . The anonymous shopper was so surprised by his haul that he felt compelled to share it online. Posting a photo of his purchases on Reddit , he displayed his finds spread out on a table, leaving viewers rather taken aback. He informed people that he had visited M&S and managed to pick up items such as sandwiches, a salad, roast potatoes, vegetables and fruit. The man captioned his post: “M&S, five minutes before closing. £20.87.” Despite his delight in showcasing his shopping haul, not everyone believed he got a lot for his money, though another shopper recently shared a way they managed to bag some good deals at M&S. Since being posted, the image has garnered hundreds of interactions, with many quick to voice their opinions. While the man seemed pleased with his purchases, others were less impressed. One commenter remarked: “That’s quite expensive.” Another echoed this sentiment, stating: “Still not great for £20 to be honest! I usually go for freezable yellow sticker meat. You get the best value that way.” Some shoppers thought it was a good deal, with one commenting: “Nice find, you’ve got a few days worth of tasty lunches and dinner!” Another individual felt he could have put in more effort, stating: “Tbh, this is amateur yellow sticker work.” A similar sentiment was echoed by another who remarked: “Poor effort.” The man himself wasn’t too disheartened with his haul, despite acknowledging he could have tried harder to find more discounted items. He responded: “As most comments have said, still very expensive and not a great yellow sticker effort. “Sorted tea for me and the partner as well as lunches and snacks for the next day when I couldn’t be bothered to cook, so worth it in my opinion.” When it comes to shopping, everyone has their own perspective on what constitutes a good deal. After all, some are more adept at hunting down significant discounts than others. Despite some opinions that the bill was still rather steep, it’s reported that M&S is striving to make food more affordable in its stores. It’s understood there has been a substantial investment in price reductions on everyday items within its Remarksable range. In addition to this, the company is said to be concentrating on everyday essentials like bread and milk. The retailer also offers promotions, including “two for” deals on certain products, and occasionally reduces the price of food nearing its sell-by date. There are several methods you can employ to cut costs during your shopping trips. In 2024, it was reported : “M&S Food is investing in the price of over 200 products as it re-affirms its commitment to delivering trusted value for its 30m customers. “Remarksable Value favourite baked beans, Fairtrade Rich Roast Instant Coffee and Easy Cook Long grain rice are included in this latest round. M&S launched its Remarksable Value range back in 2019 – made up of over 100 everyday staples with an M&S quality point of difference and price benchmarked against key competitors. “Over half of Remarksable Value products have the Eat Well health seal of approval, meaning they meet criteria developed by M&S nutritionists in partnership with the British Nutrition Foundation.”
