Shoppers are being alerted to products that have been withdrawn by the Food Standards Agency. Food items can be withdrawn for various reasons , including contamination with harmful bacteria such as listeria or salmonella that could cause food poisoning. Additional reasons can include manufacturing defects , such as plastic or metal fragments being discovered in the product. Inaccurate or absent allergen details can also result in an allergen withdrawal. Food companies are accountable for withdrawing products that pose safety risks. The Food Standards Agency collaborates closely with local councils and the food sector to issue warnings to consumers when food items are withdrawn . This week items have been withdrawn from retail giants Morrisons, Sainsbury’s and TK Maxx outlets. Shoppers are typically advised to return items to shops and obtain a complete refund, reports the Liverpool Echo . Consumers are warned against consuming or using items that have been withdrawn, for safety purposes. The most recent product withdrawals and what you need to do if you possess a withdrawn item are listed below. This item was withdrawn by Sainsbury’s from its Habitat homeware section. Habitat Seed Pod Bowl Filler has been removed from shelves by the retail giant. Sainsbury’s is withdrawing the item as it may be “toxic” to humans and animals if consumed. They say: “We take the quality and safety of our products extremely seriously and would like to apologise to customers affected for any inconvenience this may cause. No other Habitat home products are affected by this recall.” Sainsbury’s is withdrawing the product because the seeds contained within the pods are poisonous to both humans and animals if consumed. The exterior casing of the seed pod remains safe to touch. The item fails to comply with the General Product Safety Regulations 2005. TK Maxx and Homesense shoppers are being advised against consuming a product that TJX Europe has recalled from customers throughout the UK. This poses a potential health risk for anyone with an allergy or intolerance to milk or milk constituents. The recall only affects these three supermarket chains; other retailers are not impacted by this recall. The product details are as follows: The Food Standards Agency advises: “If you have bought the above product and have an allergy or intolerance to milk or milk constituents, do not eat it.
