Weather: What to know about off and on rain chances in Metro Detroit Following a brief period of rain this morning as a cold front pushed through, we should be dry through midday with more numerous showers this afternoon and evening. Isolated showers begin to develop after 3pm with stronger scattered showers this evening capable of producing gusty winds to 40 mph, small hail, and thunder. The Storm Prediction Center does not have us under a severe threat, so these heavier showers are expected to stay sub-severe. Occasional showers last tonight and Wednesday with much cooler conditions building in through Thursday. Highs today will be around 60 then falling into the 50s for the rest of the week.
