Livonia city leaders uphold rejection of Sheetz gas station amid neighborhood concerns Livonia city leaders have once again turned down a proposal for a new Sheetz gas station. The council previously voted 5-2 in January to reject plans for a 24-hour station at 8 Mile Road and Newburgh Road. Read more here. Gibbs, St. Brown shine, Detroit Lions defense stifles Buccaneers in Monday Night Football showdown The Detroit Lions dominated the Tampa Bay Buccaneers 24-9 on Monday Night Football behind stifling defense and stellar play from Jahmyr Gibbs and Amon-Ra St. Brown. The game on Oct. 20, 2025, was filled with many storylines surrounding the Buccaneers’ offense and the Lions’ lack of players in the secondary due to injury, but Detroit dominated while improving to 5-2 as they head into their bye week. Read more here. City of Plymouth moves forward with master plan amid resident opposition The city of Plymouth is moving ahead with a master plan that has sparked community debate. Despite concerns, the city commission voted to approve the plan on Monday (Oct. 20). A major point of contention is the potential re-zoning of the Christian Science Church property on Ann Arbor Trail. Read more here. Man accused of shooting Southgate police officers sentenced to prison The man accused of shooting two Southgate police officers in June was sentenced to prison on Friday. Jeremiah Christian Kemp is accused of opening fire on three officers on June 19, 2025, striking two of them in the leg, and leading police on a manhunt until he was arrested hours later. Weather: What to know about off and on rain chances in Metro Detroit Following a brief period of rain this morning as a cold front pushed through, we should be dry through midday with more numerous showers this afternoon and evening. Isolated showers begin to develop after 3pm with stronger scattered showers this evening capable of producing gusty winds to 40 mph, small hail, and thunder. The Storm Prediction Center does not have us under a severe threat, so these heavier showers are expected to stay sub-severe. Occasional showers last tonight and Wednesday with much cooler conditions building in through Thursday. Highs today will be around 60 then falling into the 50s for the rest of the week.
