FENTON TWP, MI – More than 160 new jobs are coming as part of an expansion at a Fenton Township company. Miller Industries will add at least 167 positions as part of the new 270,000-square-foot facility being built on a 60-acre parcel during the company’s ongoing $43 million expansion project. “This announcement by Miller Industries will bring hundreds of good paying, local jobs to Michigan,” said Gov. Gretchen Whitmer in a statement on Wednesday, Nov. 5. “The new $43 million expansion will result in a new facility that helps them manufacture cutting-edge technology. With today’s announcement, we are continuing to show the world that Michigan is on the move and open for business.” During its July 15 meeting, the Fenton Township Board voted to approve the expansion of the township’s industrial development district around Thompson Road and a tax exemption certificate for Miller Industries’ new facility, located at 11158 Torrey Road. The tax abatement is for up to 12 years, with an estimated value of $6 million. Rezoning of the property to allow for the expansion by Miller Industries to take place also was approved by the township board in January. The expansion will serve high-growth sectors, including semiconductors and electrical substations with the precision engineered components needed, and is part of the company’s long-term strategy to meet the increased needs of current customers and allow the manufacturing space required to secure additional customers. “This project marks another great step in our continued partnership with the State of Michigan,” said Chad Miller, Co-CEO of Miller Industries. “We’re proud to be part of a shared commitment to innovation, job creation, and strengthening Michigan’s manufacturing future.” The company received a Michigan Business Development Program performance-based grant in the amount of $1 million to aid in the expansion project. “This investment reflects Miller Industries’ deep commitment to the region and truly exemplifies what it means to be Making it in Michigan,” said Matt McCauley, Senior Vice President of Regional Development at the Michigan Economic Development Corporation. “Small businesses remain the backbone of our state’s economy, and the continued growth of companies like Miller Industries underscores the dedication, resilience, and entrepreneurial spirit of the people who drive Michigan forward.” In addition to Michigan Strategic Fund support, the Flint & Genesee Economic Alliance has offered a staff, financial, or economic commitment to the project in the form of talent recruitment assistance, and timely permit processing. “We are proud that Miller Industries is continuing to invest in Flint & Genesee with its second expansion within three years in Fenton Township,” said Tyler Rossmaessler, Executive Director, Flint & Genesee Economic Alliance. “This new expansion will bring more jobs and investment to our region and help drive us toward our Forward Together vision of becoming a top five county in Michigan by 2040.” Fenton Township Supervisor Vince Lorraine thanked Miller Industries for its continued investment and growth in the area, noting the company’s repeated demonstration of its long-term commitment to the community. Miller Industries, LLC., founded in 2014, is a family owned and operated company specializing in modular building systems including e-houses, chiller plants, boiler systems, custom steel fabrication, conveyor systems, as well as representing a number of companies nationwide in heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC) applications. “Their latest expansion will add substantial manufacturing and office capacity and generate hundreds of quality jobs, further strengthening economic activity and development along the Thompson Road corridor,” Lorraine said. “We appreciate their confidence in Fenton Township and look forward to supporting their continued success.”
