MISSOULA — In its second-oldest rivalry, Montana is hosting Idaho in the 90th all-time meeting Saturday at Washington-Grizzly Stadium in a top-10 late night matchup on ESPN2.
It’s the first top-10 meeting between the teams since 1994 — and just the third ever — when No. 1 UM defeated No. 3 Idaho 45-21 in Missoula. The only other previous top-10 battle came when the No. 5 Griz beat the No. 6 Vandals 54-34 in 1993 in Idaho.
In 2022, unranked Idaho stunned No. 3 Montana 30-23 in Missoula. The next year, the No. 16 Griz returned the favor, beating the No. 3 Vandals 23-21 on the road and returning the Little Brown Stein to Missoula.
In this rendition, it’ll be the first time since 1980 that they’re facing off in the Big Sky Conference opener for each team. The Griz come in with a 3-0 record as they’re seeking their first 4-0 start since 2022. The Vandals enter at 2-2.
Pregame
Receiver Blake Bohannon didn’t go through pregame warmups after he left last week’s game with an apparent injury. Receiver Cameron Gurnsey was in uniform for the first time this year. Receiver Lekeldrick Bridges was also suited up for pregame warmups after not being so last week.
