Montage Technology Launches High-End DDR5 Clock Driver, Supporting Up To 9200 MT/s RAM Speeds

Montage Technology has introduced its high-end DDR5 clock driver (CKD), supporting up to 9200 MT/s memory frequencies. DDR5 CKD Gets Another Boost With Montage Technology's Next-Gen DDR5-9200 MT/s Clock Driver IC DDR5 memory has seen some major uplifts with many CUDIMM kits reaching close to 10000 MT/s speeds and Non-CUDIMM kits hitting 8000-9000 MT/s frequencies. We recently covered some overclocking tests in which the memory standard has been pushed beyond 13,000 MT/s, showcasing its high-end potential in terms of stability at higher clock frequencies. Today, Montage Technology introduces another jump for the DDR5 memory standard, boosting the CKD rates from 7200 MT/s to 9200 MT/s. Montage Technology had initially introduced 7200 MT/s CKD (Clock Driver) chips back in 2024 to prepare for the Intel Arrow Lake-S platforms, and now, they have boosted to 9200 MT/s. This not only enables faster DDR5 memory speeds on existing platforms but also helps prepare for the next-gen platforms launching in 2026. The new DDR5-9200 MT/s CKD (Clock Driver) chip is based on a low-jitter clock buffer architecture that enables high-precision clock distribution between the host controllers and DRAM devices. According to Montage Technology, this significantly improves clock synchronization accuracy and signal integrity, boosting system performance and stability for mainstream client memory modules, including DDR5 CUDIMMs, CSODIMMs, and CAMMs. "The introduction of this CKD represents a key milestone in the evolution of client memory performance," said Mr. Stephen Tai, President of Montage Technology. "It not only addresses critical challenges in clock distribution and synchronization for DDR5 high-speed platforms, but also lays the groundwork for client devices to achieve higher bandwidth, superior performance, and more compact designs." via Montage Technology The CKD (Clock Driver) chip also features advanced power efficiency and management capabilities that allow users to flexibly configure the chip via software to disable unused output channels, reducing the dynamic power consumption. In 2026, Intel and AMD will be introducing brand new platforms for their next generation of CPUs, Nova Lake and Zen 6. Likely, AMD will also leverage the CUDIMM memory technology to further boost its platform performance, matching Intel's capabilities, while Nova Lake-S will continue to extend DDR5 memory support at higher rates. So expect even further clock speed improvements for DDR5 next year.
