Monmouth Habitat for Humanity to close Freehold ReStore

Monmouth Habitat for Humanity’s Freehold ReStore will close in the spring of 2026 after a decade of operation, the organization announced. The nonprofit cited rising retail rental costs, reduced nonprofit funding and a difficult retail environment as reasons for the difficult decision. The closure will allow the organization to redirect resources toward its affordable housing programs serving families and individuals throughout Monmouth County. The popular store — which sells gently used furniture, appliances and home goods at affordable prices — will continue operating until the spring closure date, with specific timing and final shopping days to be announced later. Customers can continue shopping at the Freehold location until it closes and at the organization’s Asbury Park ReStore, which will remain open. Donation pickups for larger items like furniture will continue across Monmouth County. The Freehold ReStore expects to schedule donation pickups until the end of January 2026, with exact dates to be announced. Drop-offs at the Freehold location will be accepted until the end of January 2026, after which donors can bring items to the Asbury Park ReStore. The organization plans to commemorate the Freehold ReStore’s decade of service with customers, volunteers, and donors before the closure. Details about sales or community events will be announced closer to the closure date.
