A recent video from an Indian railway station has raised serious concerns about public water hygiene. Captured from an overhead bridge, the clip shows open water tanks on the station roof, where several monkeys are seen bathing. While the scene may appear amusing at first, it is highly unhygienic and worrisome.
In the video, one monkey is seen bathing inside the tank while the other two are sitting on top. As soon as the video circulated online, many demanded answers from the authorities responsible for maintaining and cleaning these tanks. Others wondered why these open water tanks remain unchecked.
Viral Clip Shows Monkeys Contaminating Water At Indian Railway Station
The video posted on X (Formerly Twitter) came with the caption, “Monkeys are literally chilling in water tanks at a railway station. Could anything this disgusting ever happen in a private building? Imagine the deadly diseases waiting to spread. Not a single government department works. They only collect salaries, bribes and pensions.”

Internet Slams Incident As ‘Lack Of Accountability’
Reacting to the post, a user wrote, “The real issue is a lack of accountability. Nobody takes responsibility until something terrible happens.”
Another shared, “So the next time you’re filling your Stanley Flask from the station’s cool water system to stop the use of plastic and save the earth, you might end up getting some Monkey Flu or something. Stay safe, don’t drink water and don’t forget to pay taxes on time, or else you will have to pay a fine.”
“Totally disgusting,” a comment read.
An individual said, “The irony is, railways generate huge revenue, yet can’t ensure safe drinking water at their own stations. Unless accountability is fixed, with audits, penalties and real-time monitoring, such incidents will keep repeating, while citizens pay the price in health and taxes.”
Another mentioned, “People will have to collectively rise and do something if they want things changed.”
One more added, “Govt stations: where monkeys get free Jacuzzi and passengers get free jaundice.”
Railways are often criticised for delays, but in a past incident, monkeys caused a major disruption on the Kakatiya Express travelling from Kothagudem to Secunderabad. According to Deccan Chronicle, the train was halted for an hour after a monkey came into contact with high-voltage overhead wires. Railway engineers quickly rushed to repair the line, and the train, which had stopped at Karepalli railway station around 7 AM, resumed its journey to Secunderabad by 8 AM.
