A wannabe influencer has been scaring women on the London Underground and uploading footage of it online. The TikTok user, who goes by the name of 'j1comedybackup' or 'Unclej1' on the social media platform, shared a series of videos in which he can be seen terrifying fellow Tube users. The clips often show him quietly sitting in the carriage of the Underground, before suddenly and loudly shouting before breaking into song while being secretly recorded. In some cases, he could even be seen terrifying elderly women and those seemingly minding their own business as they attempted to travel through England's capital city in peace and privacy. Although the TikTok user attempts to make light of the incidents by striking up conversation with the individuals he has scared, they appear visibly shaken by the incidents. When videos of the scaring went viral on Friday, British Transport Police (BTP) Chief Superintendent Chris Casey wrote on X: 'This is not acceptable. We’ve launched an investigation.' On Saturday the TikTok user again posted to his account, saying that he was aware of the online backlash to the videos of him scaring women and that he 'wasn't trying to harm anyone'. He said: 'I've seen everything online, I'm just letting you lot know I was joking. I was literally just trying to be funny. I've done something that other content creators do. I was just trying to be funny. 'I wasn't trying to harm anyone. I didn't follow her, I didn't do nothing bad to her.' The social media user, who has more than 7,000 followers and nearly 300,000 likes, added that he 'didn't do it to harass people' and shared images of other 'content creators' that he claims inspired him. Other videos from his account show footage of him approaching what appear to be strangers, often women much older than him and on their own, where he asks them if they find him attractive. BTP announced on Sunday that they had made an arrest following 'a spate of incidents on the London Underground'. The railway force said: 'We are appealing for victims and witnesses following a spate of incidents on the London Underground. 'Officers investigating a series of distressing incidents where a man appears to scare lone females while sitting next to them on tube trains have made an arrest. 'The videos have been widely shared on social media and officers are now appealing to victims and witnesses to come forward.
