We all know that mobile gaming represents a titan of the industry, but the sheer value of the thing is sometimes forgotten about. In a nutshell, mobile gaming makes more than console and PC gaming combined, and in a recent report, it was revealed that the mobile gaming market is expected to exceed $103 billion in revenue by the end of 2025.
That staggering growth has skyrocketed only in the last few years, as mobile gaming technology has become sharper, more accessible, and more enjoyable. From esports enthusiasts to casual gamers, the mobile gaming market accommodates more than three billion players.
Insane Growth in Mobile Gaming
In a recent report published by NewZoo (Global Games Market Report), it was revealed that PC, console, and mobile-based gaming markets are on the rise through 2025. The holistic report, which features more than 200 pages of data, showed that mobile gaming is set to hit supersized heights before the year is out.
Here’s a snippet from the report:
Mobile revenues will hit $103.0 billion (+2.9% YoY), with the strongest growth in mobile-first growth regions but lower growth in Asia-Pacific. The Western markets are adapting to new direct-to-consumer models, while regulatory changes impact business worldwide.
By contrast, console revenues have increased 5.5% year-over-year to around $46 billion, while the PC market has risen 2.5% to approximately $40 billion. It’s worth highlighting that consoles have only beaten PC this year because of the launch of the Nintendo Switch 2, which was pointed out by NewZoo.
It’s not just the value of the mobile gaming market growing this year, but also the size of the community participating in gaming on the go. This year, the mobile player base could reach as many as 3 billion users, which represents 4.5% growth from last year’s numbers.
Comparatively, mobile gaming is growing faster in every respect than PC and console gaming. The report also estimated that 83% of all gamers in the world interact with some kind of mobile game.
The market also continues to dominate the esports industry, with games like PUBG Mobile, Free Fire, and ML:BB drawing in millions of viewers every time a major tournament kicks off.
