Mistfall Hunter’s third beta draws Dark and Darker-level player count

Mistfall Hunter, developed by indie studio Bellring Games, launched its third beta playtest on September 16th. The new patch is hefty, adding in new female customisation features, updated class specs, and more content to the game. With the game only being live for 12 hours, the playtest’s peak is now currently rivaling Dark and Darker, the initial fantasy extraction shooter game based on DnD like classes.

As it stands, Dark and Darker is floating around 6500 players, with Mistfall trailing slightly behind around 6100 players, according to SteamDB. I write this at around 3 pm BST, which is not a peak time of day for gamers, of course. However, it’s important to note that the Mistfall Beta 3 is a closed beta test, where you need to get an invite to join. The player reaching that number at this time suggests there’s quite a bit of intrigue and excitement behind Mistfall as an alternative to the large Tarkov-like market going on at the moment. Even Arena Infinite Breakout was released today, too.

The new patch boasts quite a lot of content. There are the female customization features, the new player hub before you get into games, and new class paths. The Seer, which is a type of holy cleric type class, has a new blasphemous class path, which is basically a specialization. There’s a new boss added to the game called General Harald, who can pose a threat like Tarkov bosses, with rewards for players who manage to beat him.

The game also has more ways to extract, meaning you don’t need to just rely on taking the Soul of Return. There are no fixed exits, more in line with other Extraction games, making it even more appealing to the wider Extraction audience.

If you’re interested in third-person, action-like combat, then why not request to sign up for the Mistfall Hunter beta on Steam?
