On September 15, President Shavkat Mirziyoyev visited the agro-industrial park under construction in the Chimyan mahalla of the Bostanlyk district, the presidential press service reported.
Bostanlyk is known for its abundant water resources and fertile land. On this basis, both tourism and agriculture are being developed in harmony. In particular, orchards covering 3,000 hectares are being established in the Chimyan mahalla, where raspberries, currants, strawberries, and walnuts are cultivated. The total cost of the project exceeds 60 million dollars, which will be used to create orchards, build fruit processing plants, and construct large-capacity warehouses.
At present, foreign export varieties of raspberries and strawberries are being grown on 50 hectares. The orchards are fully equipped with drip irrigation systems. Each hectare of raspberries generates around 400 million soums in income, while strawberries bring up to 500 million soums. Once the project is fully implemented, about 24,000 tons of products will be produced annually. A significant share—particularly walnuts and raspberries—will be exported. Importantly, more than 12,000 people will be employed in the orchards.
Supporting the project, the head of state emphasized the need to focus on processing. “This requires a modern approach, from selecting varieties to processing, picking, and sorting fruits. This will ensure the quality and attractiveness of the products and will also play an important role in exports. As the gardens expand and enterprises and related services grow around them, people will not have to travel far for work. An additional source of income will emerge, and the regional economy will develop,” the press service quoted.
The President also reviewed the potential of other mountain areas and pastures, giving instructions to establish similar profitable orchards.
“This garden shows love for the land and sincere work. The result, first of all, is income and benefit for our people. These aspects are several times higher than those of other traditional crops. Therefore, it is necessary to teach more people how to grow such products and increase their income,” said Shavkat Mirziyoyev.
It is worth noting that earlier, President Mirziyoyev reviewed the prospects of a new tourism complex in the Bostanlyk district of the Tashkent region.
