Mirziyoyev to attend UNESCO session - Qalampir.uz

President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev will attend the opening ceremony of the 43rd session of the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) General Conference, which will take place on October 30 in the city of Samarkand. For the first time in forty years, the historic session of the General Conference is being held outside UNESCO’s headquarters in Paris. Hosting such a large-scale international forum in Samarkand serves as a vivid confirmation of Uzbekistan’s commitment to the organization’s ideals and values, as well as its firm determination to actively contribute to global dialogue in the pursuit of peace, mutual understanding, and sustainable development. More than 150 events of various formats are planned within the framework of this important session, focusing on key issues in education, science, culture, ecology, technology, and communication. Holding such a prestigious international event in one of the world’s most ancient and magnificent cities carries deep symbolic meaning. It reflects the international community’s high level of trust in Uzbekistan and demonstrates the country’s growing role and influence in promoting intercultural dialogue, preserving historical and cultural heritage, and strengthening humanitarian cooperation. The event will be attended by high-level delegations from more than 200 countries and international organizations, including President of Serbia Aleksandar Vučić, President of Slovakia Peter Pellegrini, UNESCO Director-General Audrey Azoulay, and other distinguished guests. UNESCO is a specialized agency of the United Nations established in 1945 to strengthen peace and security through international cooperation in the fields of education, science, culture, and communications. Uzbekistan became a full member of UNESCO in 1993. The opening of the organization’s representative office in Tashkent in 1996 marked an important milestone in strengthening the country’s cooperation and multifaceted partnership with this prestigious international institution.
