The President of Uzbekistan, Shavkat Mirziyoyev, met with the President of the Islamic Development Bank (IDB), Muhammad bin Sulaiman Al Jasser, today, September 17, within the framework of the international forum ’’From poverty to prosperity’’ held in Namangan. The Presidential press service reported this.

At the beginning of the meeting, the head of this prestigious international financial institution warmly congratulated Uzbekistan on the successful organization of the forum and emphasized that the IDB is ready to fully support Uzbekistan’s efforts to further reduce poverty.

It was noted with satisfaction that in recent years, the partnership with the IDB has been rapidly developing. The portfolio of joint projects has exceeded $5 billion, currently covering priority sectors such as transport, infrastructure, housing construction, energy, healthcare, and education. Notably, more than 40 percent of the investments are directed to the private sector.

The Head of State proposed the adoption of a long-term strategic partnership program with the IDB, which envisions doubling the project portfolio and expanding financing for infrastructure, the social sphere, and private sector initiatives.

Special attention was given to advancing concrete projects aimed at unlocking private business potential, establishing modern medical centers across the regions, modernizing highways, restoring and concreting irrigation canals, as well as other priority directions.

It is worth noting that earlier, on September 17, President Shavkat Mirziyoyev delivered a speech at the opening of the international forum ’’From poverty to prosperity’’ in Namangan, which brought together representatives of more than 30 prestigious organizations and around 200 international experts.
