Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — Social media reports have circulated regarding cases of childhood illnesses accompanied by diarrhea and vomiting. The Ministry of Health clarifies that these cases are associated with seasonal acute respiratory viral infections (ARVI). During the autumn period, with falling temperatures, an increase in the number of cases is naturally observed. The course of respiratory infections can vary: some children develop cough, fever, and nasal congestion, while others experience gastrointestinal symptoms such as diarrhea and vomiting. This variation is due to the diversity of viral strains. It is therefore incorrect to link these illnesses to mutations of the coronavirus. Currently, COVID-19 manifests similarly to ordinary respiratory infections, and the epidemiological situation in the country remains stable. Medical institutions are adequately equipped with resources and medications to treat acute respiratory viral infections, and continuous monitoring of the epidemiological situation is maintained. Parents are advised to consult a family doctor promptly if symptoms appear in their child. Overall, according to the Ministry of Health, the situation in Uzbekistan remains stable, and there is no cause for concern.
