Ministry of Culture Opens Nominations for 7th State Appreciation, Incentive Awards

Doha, November 01 (QNA) - The Ministry of Culture announced the opening of nominations for the State Appreciation Award and the State Incentive Award in the fields of sciences, arts, and literature in their seventh cycle, with submissions continuing until Tuesday, Dec. 16, 2025. The State Appreciation Award is granted to scholars and creators in recognition of their cumulative scientific and creative contributions, while the State Incentive Award is bestowed upon promising researchers and creators with outstanding achievements in a variety of fields, encouraging them to continue their endeavors and creativity. The two awards aim to spotlight Qatari scientific and literary talents, provide the appropriate environment to stimulate creativity and competition, enhance the spirit of excellence in scientific, artistic, and literary fields, activate scientific research, artistic and literary creativity, and contribute to raising cultural and scientific awareness within the framework of Qatar National Vision 2030. The Board of Trustees of the State Appreciation and Incentive Awards noted that the two awards cover several fields, including Islamic studies, social, economic, and political sciences, pure and applied sciences, poetry, short story, novel, and theater. They also cover literary, critical, linguistic, and translation studies, plastic, theatrical, musical, and other arts, as well as sports, professional, voluntary, and community service fields, in addition to inventions, innovations, and scientific and industrial discoveries. The State Appreciation Award is granted biennially to Qatari scholars and creators by HH the Amir or his representative, and its value is QAR 500,000 along with a gold medal, a certificate, and a patent. The award requires the nominee to be of Qatari nationality, of good reputation and conduct, alive unless deceased after nomination, and to have authored publications, studies, scientific research, or artistic works previously published, presented, or implemented, with contributions of scientific or artistic value that enrich cultural and intellectual life locally or globally. The nominee's community work must include an instrumental contribution that supports the development of societal institutions and enhances initiatives. Any invention, innovation, or discovery must hold developmental value, be endorsed by specialized authorities, and not have been previously submitted to any entity in the country. Relevant ministries, authorities, and specialized institutions in sciences, arts, literature, sports, professions, volunteering, or community service nominate candidates with a detailed report of reasons for nomination. The Board of Trustees may select a suitable candidate if no nominations are received from these entities. The State Incentive Award is also granted every two years to researchers and creators with phenomenal contributions in sciences, arts, and literature. It is awarded by the Minister of Culture as an encouragement, with a value of QAR 300,000 for the announced fields, along with a gold medal, certificate, and patent. In case of multiple winners in one field, the prize amount is divided equally, and each receives a medal, certificate, and patent. The award requires the nominee to be of Qatari nationality, of good reputation and conduct, alive unless deceased after nomination, with original contributions enriching cultural and intellectual life, published or accomplished culturally or artistically, not previously submitted for a degree or nominated in more than two cycles, and including community work enhancing sports, professional, voluntary, and societal service values. Any invention, innovation, or discovery must be developmentally valuable, endorsed by specialized authorities, and not previously submitted to any entity in the country. Nominations for the State Incentive Award are made through a scientific, cultural, sports, professional, voluntary, or community service authority or institution, and individuals may submit their works directly to the Board. The Board may select a candidate if no nominations are received from any entity or individuals. The board clarified that applications for both awards require filling out the nomination form, attaching a CV, a recent personal photo, and a valid ID copy. The form and all works must be submitted to the Secretariat of the State Appreciation and Incentive Awards by Tuesday, Dec.16. Submissions are made in the name of the Chairperson of the Board of Trustees. Submitted works are not returned, the Board is not obliged to announce winners in all fields, and any award may be withheld at the Board's discretion. The Board's decision is final. The nominating entity submits the participant's form along with four copies of all works in the nominated field to the Secretariat of the Award at the Ministry of Culture. (QNA)
