Minister of Environment and Climate Change Meets International Officials

Vienna, September 16 (QNA) – HE Minister of Environment and Climate Change Dr. Abdullah bin Abdulaziz bin Turki Al Subaie, held a series of separate meetings with several international officials on the sidelines of the 69th General Conference of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), taking place in Vienna, Austria.

During his meeting with Chief Executive Officer of the Nuclear and Radiological Regulatory Commission of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia Dr. Khalid Al Issa, the two sides discussed cooperation in regulatory oversight of nuclear and radiological activities, national emergency plans, and the exchange of expertise in these areas.

In a separate meeting with he Finland’s Minister of Climate and Environment Sari Multala, they discussed bilateral cooperation in environmental and climate-change fields and explored ways to strengthen environmental partnerships to support shared sustainability goals.

HE the Minister also met with Principal Deputy Assistant Secretary in the US Department of Energy’s Office of Nuclear Energy Dr. Michael Goff, and IAEA Deputy Director General and Head of the Department of Nuclear Safety and Security Karine Herviou.

Both meetings focused on opportunities for cooperation in the peaceful uses of nuclear energy and its role in supporting efforts to combat climate change and advance the transition to clean energy sources. (QNA)
