Advertisement - PESHAWAR, Nov 04 (APP): Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Minister for Public Health Engineering (PHE), Fazal Shakoor Khan, has directed department officers to work as a team and ensure provision of clean drinking water to people. The Provincial Minister expressed these views while presiding over a departmental meeting after formally assuming charge of his office. The meeting was attended by Secretary PHE, Dawood Khan, Additional Secretary, Chief Engineers and other relevant officers. During the briefing, the minister was informed in detail about the ongoing and newly approved schemes of the department. The briefing also covered schemes under ADP, AIP and foreign-funded projects in settled and merged districts of the province. It was told in the meeting that eight Water Quality Monitoring Laboratories have been established in the settled districts and three merged districts of KP, besides the facility of mobile water quality units. It was told that primary objective of these laboratories is to ensure the implementation of WHO water quality standards in both existing and newly constructed water supply schemes, as well as in public places such as schools, colleges and mosques across the province. The Provincial directed that all ongoing projects initiated for the welfare of the public must be completed within the stipulated time frame adding that providing safe and clean water to the public is a collective responsibility of the department. He also instructed the concerned authorities to immediately conduct interviews of those candidates who have passed the written test and been declared eligible, so that vacant positions in the department could be filled timely.
