Military Appreciation Weekend Planned For St. Cloud Norsemen

It was another busy weekend for area hockey teams as the Granite City Lumberjacks were at home looking to stay unbeaten, and the St. Cloud Norsemen were looking to pick up some wins after being swept at home by Minot the previous week. Here is a recap of how both junior hockey teams did over the weekend, and what they have coming up this weekend. Norsemen Drop A Pair In Minot, Look To Rebound This Weekend The St. Cloud Norsemen were on the road this weekend in Minot, North Dakota, where they had hoped to avenge being swept the previous weekend at home by Minot. It was a tough weekend for the Norsemen as they were beaten in both games by a single goal. Friday night, the Norsemen fell to Minot 4-3, and again on Saturday by a score of 5-4. The Norsemen are back at home this weekend as they face off against the Bismarck Bobcats. The Bobcats will come to the MAC in 2nd place in the Central Division with an overall record of 11-5-1-0. In a previous 2 game series earlier this year, the teams split the series, each taking a game. Military Appreciation Weekend At The MAC It's a big weekend for the Norsemen off the ice, too, as it is Military Appreciation Weekend. The team will be auctioning off special jerseys on Saturday, with the proceeds going to the St. Cloud Stand Down program. You can learn more about the auction and other activities by following the Norsemen on social media. Puck drop Friday at the MAC is scheduled for 7:00 p.m. and Saturday at 6:30 p.m. Granite City _umberjacks Still Haven't Found An 'L' The LumberJacks came into this past weekend undefeated on the year, and as impressive as that feat is, they finished the weekend still without a loss. The Jacks won big on Friday night in Mason City, taking the first game by a tally of 9-4. The goals didn't stop Saturday as the Jacks won that game 6-4. The question remains, will the winning continue this weekend? Granite City comes in with an overall record of 14-0-0-0 as they face off against the Minnesota Wilderness, which are in last place in the West Division. This is a 2-game series that the team can't overlook, as they will then go into a weekend series against rival Alexandria, and then face off against the Minnesota Moose, currently in 2nd place. Both of those games will be on the road in two weeks. Gametime from the Miller Buick GMC rink for both games Friday and Saturday is 7:30 p.m. Learn more about ticketing and other team news by following the Jacks on social media.
