MIDLAND, MI — Midland Public Schools officials will embark on a strategic planning process to chart the district’s direction for the next five to 10 years. The process will establish clear goals, objectives, and measures to guide the district’s work, including creating a “portrait of a graduate” that describes the knowledge, skills, and qualities every student should possess upon graduation, district officials said. “The strategic planning process is an opportunity to ensure our academic and organizational goals best serve our students and prepare them for success in a changing world,” Board of Education President Phil Rausch said in a statement. The school district will offer both in-person and virtual participation options. A digital survey is available through Nov. 25, for parents, guardians, and the school community. School officials also will host a series of one-hour listening sessions, with both community-wide and parent- or guardian-specific sessions scheduled throughout November and December. “These outcomes, whether they will be achieved in the classroom or through capital projects, will ultimately all focus on the needs of current and future (Midland Public Schools) students,” Rausch said.
