BAY CITY, MI — It’s the weekend before Halloween, and plenty of spooky-season happenings are planned across the region this weekend, Friday to Sunday, Oct. 24-26. Here are a few events planned for the coming days: ‘The Rocky Horror Picture Show’ A Halloween-season film classic, “The Rocky Horror Picture Show,” will screen for audiences at Bay City’s Historic Masonic Temple. Showings of the movie — accompanied by a “shadow cast” of “Rocky Horror” performers — are planned at 8 p.m. and midnight on both Friday and Saturday. Tickets cost $15, and include prop bags associated with the 1975 cult classic starring Tim Curry. For more information, click here. Inclusive Halloween An Inclusive Halloween event for kids is planned for 5 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. Friday at University of Michigan-Flint’s Riverfront Conference Center, 1 Riverfront Plaza. Laura Martin, who works at UM-Flint, started the Inclusive Halloween event in 2019 after an experience that left her son, who has nonverbal autism and who received a heart transplant last year, feeling excluded. “He had a difficult time because he wasn’t able to say trick- or-treat,” she said of a 2018 Halloween event. “The volunteers at the event weren’t accommodating to him.” Determined to create a more welcoming experience, she asked her supervisor if she could start a Halloween event where children and adults with disabilities could feel included. The first year drew about 400 attendees and 200 volunteers. Last year, it welcomed more than 1,200 community members. Read the full story here. Lighted Pumpkin Path & Treat Trail Also on Friday evening, trick-or-treaters can see a Halloween lights show and enjoy a walk among the jack-o-lanterns at the Lighted Pumpkin Path & Treat Trail at Grand Boulevard/Physician’s Park, 218 Reid Road in Grand Blanc. The event from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. is free to attend. From noon to 4 p.m., bring a carved pumpkin to enter into a contest with cash prizes of $100 for first place, $50 for second place and $25 for third place. Fine more details here. ‘Halloween Monster Mix and Mash’ The Mid-Michigan Children’s Museum in Saginaw will host its “Halloween Monster Mix and Mash” event from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday. The event features Halloween-themed games, crafts, goodie bags, and family-friendly costumes. For more information, visit the museum website here. ‘Don’t Dress for Dinner’ Creative 360, the Midland-based art studio, will host a stage show that began on Broadway in 2012. “Don’t Dress for Dinner” is described as a “French farce” about a whirlwind of comedic confusion that follows the character, Bernard, when his romantic weekend with a mistress is spoiled by his wife. While the RSVP date for dinner-provided experience passed, patrons can still purchase tickets for the food-less presentations, scheduled at 2 p.m. and 7 p.m. Saturday. Click here for tickets or more information. ‘Wicked Sing-a-Long’ Weeks before the sequel is set to hit theaters, the 2024 hit film, “Wicked,” will screen in downtown Saginaw’s Temple Theatre. The showing will feature the sing-a-long version of the movie, fit for audiences eager to match the tunes of Elphaba and Glinda. The showtime is 2 p.m. Sunday. Saginaw bus bash The 2nd Annual Spook-tacular Bus Bash is scheduled for 4 p.m. Sunday at Saginaw United High School near the city’s riverside.
