MIDLAND COUNTY, MI — A Sanford man has been arrested and charged with 12 felonies for allegedly sexually assaulting a 6-year-old girl. Zackery Prince, 31, was arraigned on Monday, Nov. 3, in 75th District Court on six counts of first-degree criminal sexual conduct and six counts of second-degree criminal sexual conduct, according to court records. The alleged assaults date back to March 20, 2024, court records indicate. Prince, who was issued a $5 million cash/surety bond, is currently being housed at the Midland County Jail, Sheriff Scott Holzinger confirmed in a news release. According to the arrest affidavit, the child told investigators the assaults started when she was 5 and happened roughly 100 times, the Midland Daily News reported. The assaults included watching porn, the outlet reported. Prince told investigators he would show the girl porn as a way to show why she should pick the right partner and how people do things. Leading to the investigation, the victim shared her story of being sexually assaulted with another student while the children were riding the school bus. A Midland County Sheriff’s detective initially received a referral from the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services on Thursday, Oct. 30, Holzinger said. After an extensive joint investigation with Child Protective Services, it was determined that the suspect and victim are related. Prince was subsequently arrested Friday, Oct. 31, and lodged at the Midland County jail. His next court appearance is scheduled for Nov. 18.
