An online outage caused delays for some Alaska Airlines flights today but there were no flight cancellations at Alaska or Hawaiian, according to a statement from the carriers. A “global outage” impacted the Microsoft Azure platform today where “several Alaska and Hawaiian Airlines services are hosted,” causing a disruption to key systems, including websites, according to the company. “Our teams worked quickly to stand up our backup infrastructure to allow our guests to book and check-in for their flights online while minimizing operational disruptions,” read a statement posted at 3:50 p.m. on the company’s website. “We are bringing impacted systems back online this afternoon, with other services set to resume once Microsoft resolves the issue from its end.” The carriers apologized for any inconvenience and thanked customers for their patience. When the outage began, guests who were unable to check-in online approached agents at airports for a boarding pass.
