Michigan getting Da Vinci inventions exhibition with 40 full-scale working machines

DETR0IT – You can immerse yourself in the mind of Leonardo da Vinci at a new exhibition coming to Michigan featuring his inventions.
“Leonardo da Vinci: Machines in Motion” is coming to the Michigan Science Center in Detroit, opening on October 11.
The exhibition will feature recreations of 40 interactive machines imagined by da Vinci hundreds of years ago.
“This isn’t just an exhibition; it’s truly an experience,” said said Dr. Christian Greer, President & CEO of the Michigan Science Center. “Guests get to step into a full-scale mechanical playground featuring 40 of his inventions and learn how he imagined future technology by cranking gears, pulling levers, and setting his ideas in motion.”
The exhibition will include flying machines, water pumps, helicopters, parachutes, and even a working robot and armored tank, all imagined more than 500 years ago by Leonardo da Vinci.
Access to the da Vinci exhibition is included with general admission into the Michigan Science Center.
The exhibit will be open from October 11, 2025, through January 2026. Members will receive a sneak preview on the morning of Saturday, October 11 at 1 p.m.
And this isn’t the only da Vinci exhibition coming to Michigan. The Henry Ford Museum in Dearborn will unveil, “Da Vinci: The Exhibition” on Sunday, October 26 through Sunday, May 3, 2026.
The exhibition will feature more than 60 full-scale invention recreations and over 20 fine art studies, showcasing da Vinci’s art, engineering and science.
The exhibition will include detailed reproductions of his designs for military machines, civil engineering marvels, flying apparatus, musical instruments, and other ingenious creations.
The collection also includes in-depth studies of iconic works such as the Mona Lisa, The Last Supper, and Virgin of the Rocks.
