Photographs and video shared on social media show a fire tearing through the church with a large plume of smoke overhead

Multiple people have been injured after an active shooter was reported at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Grand Blanc, Michigan. Multiple victims are trapped inside the church as a fire spread across the building, with manpower shortages noted as a constraint, NewsWeek reported. In a post on Facebook, the Grand Blanc Township Police Department confirmed the shooting, which occurred shortly before 11 a.m. local time saying that the shooter is down and the church is on fire. Police say there is no threat to the public. An “active shooter” opened fire at the Church of Latter Day Saints in Grand Blanc on Sunday morning, according to local police. “There has been an active shooter at the church of Latter Day Saints on McCandlish Road,” police said in a statement. “There are multiple victims and the shooter is down. There is NO threat to the public at this time.
