Baroness Michelle Mone has been savagely mocked online after retweeting a post praising her and her husband from a fake account. The 54-year-old Scots businesswoman, shared a message from a parody account with the handle Sir Michael Take CBE on X. However, the account, which has over 100k followers, does in fact not belong to the former Tory politician and is a fake platform. The bra tycoon re-shared a picture of her and husband Doug Barrowman, with the caption: "Why is it people in this country HATE beautiful and successful people? "The vicious flak and hate mail Michelle Mone and her husband are receiving is totally uncalled for and motivated by envy and jealousy. Let's celebrate their successes instead of attacking them all the time!" The fake account shared a screenshot of Michelle retweeting their post as they poked fun at the move with the caption: "It truly is an honour that Michelle Mone has retweeted my post about her and her wonderful husband. "This bright, intelligent woman stands defiant. You have to admire her judgment and bravery." It's not clear whether Mone knew the account was not real but her repost, which has since been deleted, was met with fits of laughters online. One wrote: "The internet has reached a new level of stupidity most would have thought not possible several decades ago. A sight to behold." I’ll admit I got caught out by it, anyone else care to admit it?" A third remarked: "Truly incredible Sir Micky Take, you have won the internet today." Yet another amused user chimed in: "The gift that keeps on giving this account." Someone else added: "Is anyone going to enlighten her?", alongside several laughing face emojis. It comes just weeks after a High Court judge ruled that a company linked to Ms Mone must repay the government £122m for breaching a contract to supply 25m surgical gowns during the Covid pandemic. A BBC One documentary, The Rise and Fall of Michelle Mone, earlier this year revealed how the baroness and her husband Doug Barrowman's firm PPE Medpro was awarded lucrative contracts to provide personal protective equipment during the Covid pandemic. Join the Daily Record's WhatsApp community here and get the latest news sent straight to your messages The firm is now being sued by the Department of Health with the government saying the gowns were not suitable because they were not sterile. Baroness Mone and Mr Barrowman have denied any wrongdoing. However, a company law expert says it is unlikely that the UK Government will ever recoup the £122million, owed to it by PPE Medpro, after the firm missed a judge's deadline to repay the sum earlier this month. That being said, the UK government has since vowed to "chase down" every penny owed to the taxpayer by the firm.
