Michael Porter Jr. says he’s been studying Carmelo Anthony’s mid-post highlights Porter Jr. has averaged 19.7 points, 6.0 rebounds and 4.0 assists through three games with the Nets. He had a breakout performance against the Cleveland Cavaliers where he scored 31 points on 13-for-22 shooting from the field. With the Nets, Porter Jr. will have the freedom to do more on offense. He can become more of a shot creator, which is something he didn’t tap into with the Nuggets. Porter Jr. talked about how he’s been studying NBA legend Carmelo Anthony’s highlights to help him with his mid-post game. “I feel like a lot of guys just stop working on certain things and go shoot corner threes or just work on the things that they’re going to do in the game. “But for me, I kept working on a lot of different things so that, in this opportunity now, I feel like I’ll be okay. But it’ll be a learning curve. “I’ve been watching a lot of Melo’s highlights. I don’t want to have to waste tons of energy every game on the perimeter, having to get by other teams’ best defenders and shoot crazy contested shots. “So, watching the mid post work and being able, in the fourth quarter, when things get tight, to give it to me on the mid post, face up, jab, shoot over the top, or rip one dribble, pull up. “I have got to get comfortable in the mid-post. So, there’s no better person to watch than Melo. I think that’s going to be big for me, for sure.”
