Miami QB Carson Beck Breaks Silence on Hanna Cavinder Breakup

Miami QB Carson Beck Breaks Silence on Hanna Cavinder Breakup

Carson Beck had an eventful arrival when he transferred from Georgia to Miami back in January. The former Bulldogs quarterback didn’t just bring baggage with him — it spilled over almost immediately after he got settled in his new home.
In February, Beck and then-girlfriend Hanna Cavinder — a Miami women’s basketball star and social media influencer — had luxury cars stolen from their residence. Less than a month later, the relationship ended in viral, very public fashion.
Since the breakup, Hanna and her twin sister Haley have made their own not-so-subtle references on social media. Beck, however, had stayed silent until recently. In a profile with ESPN’s Andrea Adelson, the new Hurricanes quarterback opened up about the split.
“You make mistakes as a person, but it sucks that you have to go through something like that with someone that you care about, and now it’s all over the Internet,” Beck said. “Half of what you see in the media is true. Half of what you see is not true. So, people pick their side of the story and run with it. The people that know the truth know the truth. But it’s been difficult.”
Adelson reported Beck and Cavinder have not spoken since the breakup.
Miami Was Worried About Carson Beck’s Celebrity Status
Beck arrived in Coral Gables to plenty of skepticism. For one, he was replacing one of the best quarterbacks in Miami history in Cam Ward, who went on to be the No. 1 overall pick in the NFL Draft.
On top of that, he was coming off a serious arm injury suffered in the SEC Championship Game, one that required surgery to repair his UCL.
But the bigger concern was Beck’s personality. Though naturally introverted, he had reached celebrity-like status. He was the starting quarterback of the defending national champions, had an influencer girlfriend, and was seen driving a $300,000 Lamborghini.
“It’s really weird, because my whole life I’ve been very introverted, and whether people believe it or not, I’ve really tried to stay out of the limelight,” Beck told Adelson. “A lot of times, in my position, you can’t because there is that hyper focused attention on you. I probably put myself in some situations that wouldn’t align with me saying that I tried to stay out of the limelight, and obviously that’s on me.”
Carson Beck Has Brought a Different Mindset to the Miami Hurricanes
Hurricanes offensive coordinator Shannon Dawson admitted he called Beck’s former play caller at Georgia, Todd Monken, to see how Beck’s lifestyle changes were affecting him.
“There was a change in him, from what I got from Coach Monken, as far as the newfound celebrity,” Dawson said.
Still, Monken told Dawson that with the right mindset, Beck could play like a first-round pick.
And after the chaotic spring, Beck does appear to have shifted gears. According to Adelson, the quarterback has ditched the Lamborghini and flashy housing, opting instead for a truck and a secluded residence.
